Employment History | Aztec Event Services
May’09- Recent Field A/V Technician. Aztec organise and operate large
scale events, exhibitions and conferences, based strictly in the corporate side
of the business. Responsibilities as a field
technician range from client liaison, establishing how a stand/ seminar/
conference venue should look and operate, building to the clients
specification, operating all audio and video aspects of the event, and finally
de-rigging. Duties also included
thoroughly testing and prepping all equipment before being sent to jobs. Because of my skills and
experience, I found myself travelling with jobs extensively and looking after
some of the more important seminars. I learned a lot in this
role, primarily the importance of client care and interaction as well as
building significantly on my general A/V skills. Hawthorn Theatrical
Feb’08- Apr ‘09 Projects Technician/ Head of Sound While on Site, I was primarily
responsible for the building, setting up and operating of PA systems designed
specifically for the event we were working on, ranging from small corporate
conferences, to large social events and concerts. This involves managing
schedules, event design from the ground up, booking correct kit, transport
logistics and crew management. I was also called upon to
install and run the AV aspect of shows when required, as directed by the end

Sept ‘07 Senior Entertainment technician/ FOH Audio Engineer. Working in USA & Caribbean, responsible for a team
of 5 technicians for the smooth operation of all aspects of entertainment,
including Lights, drops, backstage and sound equipment maintenance, overseeing
safety procedures and ensuring they meet all legal requirements and seeing that
they are carried out correctly, making sure other technicians are have
submitted reports and making sure they are happy at work. Also responsible for
the smooth running of large passenger groups. Time keeping, excellent organization
and management skills and good administration skills are essential in this
role. Cybersound Recording and
Rehearsing studio’s July’01 – May’05 In House Sound Engineer/
Rehearsal Maintenance. An average recording day involves setting up and
running a session at the studios for clients, from miking up instruments or
vocals, through the recording process, mixing down and editing, and finally
mastering and performing any post production work- i.e. topping and tailing,
track arranging, etc. The average day can last between 10 and 14 hours. As the
studio is also a rehearsal complex, other responsibilities involve setting up
and maintaining PA systems, looking after customers, as well as general upkeep of equipment and the building. An understanding of
different musical genres and their technical requirements is key to my role.
This is on a self-employment basis, however, I did complete around 6 months of
voluntary work before settling into permanent employment. |
